Most patients visit initially for pain relief, then pivot their focus to prevention once the pain is relieved. Adopting an injury prevention plan is key to avoiding acute flare-ups or re-occurring issues. As to athletic and cognitive performance, a good clinical examination can identify areas for improvement which may produce improved functionality and performance outcomes.
We stand by the patient-centred approach where the patient is in control of his/her own treatment program, hence we do not work with high-frequency care plans. Most non-chronic conditions tend to resolve itself within 3-6 visits, sometimes even less. Rehabilitation for chronic conditions caused by long term injury may take longer due to the body’s adaptation process. Our idea is to provide you with the necessary skills to manage your own condition through taking our advice and making lifestyle changes.
According to current guidelines, X-rays are complementary exams and will not be required for the majority of cases - prior or during your chiropractic treatment. If X-Rays or any other forms of imaging (MRI, CT, ultrasound etc) are required, we can give you a referral.
Nevertheless, feel free to bring along any recent x-ray and scans that you feel is noteworthy to mention.
The Assisted Stretching improves flexibility and the range of motion of your body in an effective way, supporting wellbeing and recovery. The session can increase the muscle-stretch tolerance via the regulation of 3 types of receptors in the body; Nociceptive nerve endings (danger receptors), Mechanoreceptors (pressure receptors) and Proprioceptors (receptors for sensing the body’s location). The combination of those 3 receptors and other rehabilitation techniques (such as nerve gliding) can provide a release of tension in specific nerves which modulate the information of pain.
There are many plausible theories pointing to muscle-tendon units being more flexible - which in turn allows greater relative force production - when the muscle is stretched. This then improves the ability to resist excessive muscle elongation, and may also decrease the susceptibility to a muscle strain certain injury. ASP offers a new way to cope with physical stress that our body suffers daily.
